There is nothing more bitter than separation.
Without Your refuge there is only confusion.
Our possessions ambush our real wealth;
our desires tear the garment of spirit from our souls.
Since the harm we do
devours the good we try to reach,
how can anyone save his soul
except with Your protection?
And even if we could protect our own souls,
we still cling to a storehouse of fears,
because the soul is forever distraught with itself,
if it's not in union with the Beloved.
